Eden Prairie responded to each of Edina’s scoring drives with one of their own and some extras in-between for a 37-20 victory on Friday night.

The Eagles capped off the homecoming victory with an interception to end an otherwise good night for Edina quarterback Troy Peterson. He threw for 214 yards and two touchdowns.

Recap: Mason Gligor rushed for a pair of Eden Prairie touchdowns and Dan Fisher ran for 107 yards while draining the clock in the second half of a 37-20 homecoming victory over Edina. The Hornets remained close in the first half and tied the game 14-14 late in the second quarter. Troy Peterson, Erik Veker and Ben Boone combined for a trick play 22-yard touchdown pass and then converted a two-point conversion. The tie wouldn’t last, though. Eden Prairie responded with a touchdown two minutes later and would lead the rest of the night.

Key of the game: Bill Koop’s right hand was enough to pull the momentum in Eden Prairie’s favor for good. The junior linebacker pulled down a one-handed interception deep in Edina territory just seconds into the third quarter. It led to a quick Eagles touchdown.

Quote: “It was a revenge game. It’s been a focus. Intensity in practice was amped up this week – longer and harder.” -- Fisher, senior running back, on avenging last year’s loss to Edina

One thing to know: Edina upset Eden Prairie on the Eagles’ home turf a year ago, 17-6. The victory ended Eden Prairie’s 49-game home winning streak. It was considered the high school football season’s biggest upset and bumped the Hornets to No. 1 in the Class 6A poll.
