The Fire put the first points up on the board in the second quarter with an exciting 55-yard interception return by junior Charlie Lacy this past Friday night against the Litchfield Dragons. With that score the Fire then continued with a total of 21 unanswered points before the Dragons fought back with two touchdowns of their own. The Fire prevailed and achieved their first victory of the year with a final score of 24-15.

     Offensively, the Fire welcomed the return of junior quarterback Hank Hopkins, who threw for 215 yards on 17 of 29 attempts with a touchdown pass to Lacy in the fourth quarter. Lacy caught 11 passes for 159 yards. Junior Chazz Johnson also ran for 61 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown. For the special teams, senior Elliott Beddor nailed a 23-yard field goal and was three for three on extra points. Defensively the Fire was impressive with junior Brennan Borhorst having an interception and two QB sacks. Senior Luke Melander also had two QB sacks while senior Ian Cunningham added a fumble recovery.
