Keaton Studsrud

The Benilde-St. Margaret's spread option runs through quarterback Keaton Studsrud and the senior signal caller had little trouble helping the Red Knights to a 43-16 victory against Robbinsdale Cooper.

Studsrud had more than 300 yards of total offense, passing for 277 yards and four touchdowns in the rout.

Despite the dominating final score, it actually took the Red Knights some time to get their offense going. But things got rolling opened after Callaghan Commers got Benilde-St. Margaret's on the scoreboard with 1:37 remaining in the opening quarter. The Red Knights scored three more times before halftime, leaving little doubt to the final outcome heading into the third quarter.

Cooper quarterback Luke Lindquist  completed 12 of 22 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown in the loss.

Recap: Senior quarterback Keaton Studsrud connected on 9 of 16 passes for 204 yards and two touchdowns before halftime, helping the Red Knights ride a dominating second quarter to the lopsided win. Cooper’s Luke Lindquist finished 12 of 22 for 208 yards and a touchdown.

Key of the game: The Red Knights’ spread option runs through Studsrud, who finished with more than 300 yards of total offense (277 yards and four touchdowns passing). The key, though, was his ability to buy time in the pocket and make first downs when the offense otherwise would have stalled with penalties and dropped passes.

Quote: “We can do a lot better,'' Studsrud said. "If we limit the penalties and the dropped catches—I mean, what did we have, 43 points? We can put up a lot more."

Thing to know: The Red Knights weren’t just airing it out on offense. They had five different players combine for 109 yards rushing in the first half alone.
