Red Rock Central vs. Southwest Minnesota Christian

6 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19

Red Rock Central has won five in a row and, with a perfect week, could overtake Southwest Minnesota Christian at the top of the Red Rock Conference standings. The Falcons (10-2, 6-1) won the conference title last year, but an early season loss to Mountain Lake Area has No. 10-1A Red Rock Central firmly in second place behind the Eagles.

The Falcons have not yet scored 70 points this season, but their opponents rarely get to 60. The only two occasions on which an opponent has scored 70 or more points were in Red Rock Central's two losses — Mountain Lake Area (71-55 on Dec. 15) and Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (72-51 on Dec. 22). If the Falcons can keep the score low, their two main offensive weapons, Brady Rasmussen (20.5 ppg) and Spencer Halland (19.0 ppg), could be enough to get the victory.

Southwest Minnesota Christian has not yet scored less than 71 points in a game all season. The Eagles (10-1, 7-0) have four players averaging double-digit points: Avery Pater (12 ppg), Jacob Van Dam (11 ppg), Mason Van Essen (11 ppg) and Hunter Dilly (10 ppg). If Southwest Minnesota Christian's offense can escape the defensive clutches of Red Rock Central, the Eagles will have an excellent opportunity to take solid control of the Red Rock Conference going into the second half of the season.
