Mora at Esko
5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 18

Esko has been another surprise team this season, climbing to No. 10 in the Class 3A rankings after winning just two games a year ago. The Eskomos can cap their impressive regular season by nabbing the Northeast Blue subdistrict title with a win against Mora.

After losing to Cloquet 55-20 in Week 1, Esko (6-1, 4-0) has posted six straight wins. Senior running back Tyler Peterson rushed for two touchdowns as the Eskomos picked apart league foe Crosby-Ironton 33-0 last week.

Winners of four straight — including a 35-6 home victory over Aitkin last week — Mora can win the league title with a victory, but taming these Mustangs (5-1, 4-0) won't be easy. They lead the league in points per game on offense (24.9) and defense (7.7).

Mora won a league title two seasons ago and has defeated Esko in their last two meetings (37-30 in 2015; 33-12 last year).
