Eden Prairie at Edina
7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 18

The Metro West subdistrict boasts three teams ranked in Class 6A, and two -- No. 1 Eden Prairie and No. 5 Edina -- end the regular season against each other in what could be an epic clash. (Minnetonka is No. 2 in the rankings.)

Eden Prairie was the preseason subdistrict favorite, and the Eagles (7-0, 3-0) look to win the league crown with a win on Wednesday. Eden Prairie is in position to take home its fifth consecutive outright title after securing a share of it with a 39-21 win over Minnetonka last week.

Edina can spoil the coronation by ending Eden Prairie's perfect season. If the Hornets (6-1, 3-1) pull the upset, they will grab a share of the league crown for the first time since 2012.

Edina defeated No. 7-6A Maple Grove 27-18 last week to help ease the sting of a 28-27 loss to Minnetonka in Week 6. Hornets quarterback Ryan Meyer threw two touchdowns and ran for another against the Crimson.

Edina's last win over Eden Prairie was a 17-6 decision in the 2012 regular season. The Eagles, however, got the last laugh by winning a state title that year, and have since gone 4-0 against the Hornets.
