Grand Meadow at Spring Grove
7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 13

Spring Grove has come so close to winning many of its games against Grand Meadow, but the Lions haven't found a way to upend the four-time reigning 9-Man state champion, losing nine straight to the Superlarks.

Spring Grove hopes the trend and the streak end Friday when it hosts Grand Meadow, looking to clinch a share of the District 9 South East subdistrict title.

The top-ranked Lions average 51.8 points per game, partially due to dynamic playmaker Alex Folz. The junior quarterback has thrown for 928 yards and 12 touchdowns this year while adding 450 yards and 11 TDs on the ground.

Spring Grove (6-0, 5-0) has wins over two ranked teams this year: No. 3 Houston and No. 9 Cleveland.

Grand Meadow may be next in line. The No. 8-ranked Superlarks (5-1, 4-1) looked mortal in a 30-16 loss to Houston in Week 2, which ended a 51-game winning streak.

But they still have one the best rushers in Minnesota in senior running back Zach Myhre, whose 187.4 rushing yards per game ranks sixth in the state. He's gained 1,163 yards on the ground and tallied 19 touchdowns this year.
