Wabasso at New Ulm Cathedral
7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 6
New Ulm Cathedral had won six consecutive games against Southwest East subdistrict opponent Wabasso, but that streak ended with a 59-6 loss last year.
The victory helped propel the Rabbits to the Class 1A state semifinals, and they seem equipped make a bigger leap this season.
Wabasso (5-0, 3-0) is averaging 30.6 points per game and allowing just 6.0, and the Rabbits displayed their offense and defense to record a 69-13 homecoming victory over Sleepy Eye last weekend.
New Ulm Cathedral's lone blemish came in a 37-35 loss to Lac qui Parle Valley in Week 3, but the Greyhounds (4-1, 3-0) have had back-to back league victories against opponents Murray County Central (19-6 on Sept. 23) and Adrian (48-21 on Sept. 29) to keep pace with Wabasso in the league standings.
