Rothsay vs. Verndale
7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 29

Rothsay has turned some heads in the 9-Man class this season.

The Tigers (4-0, 4-0) are undefeated through four weeks, a stark contrast to nine total wins the team collected in the last seven years. But the record will be put to the test when the Tigers take on District 9 West South subdistrict foe Verndale, which is ranked ninth in 9-Man.

Expect plenty of points in this one. Rothsay enters as the fifth-highest scoring team in the state with 215 points. Verndale (4-0, 4-0) has scored just 14 fewer points (sixth most).

The Tigers' offensive success can be attributed to its running game. Senior running back Wyatt Curtis is the state's leading rusher with 908 yards and 18 touchdowns on just 61 carries this season.

The Pirates may have a defense player positioned to stop Curits in senior linebacker Samuel Moore, a 6-foot-5, 215-pound North Dakota State commit.
