Maple Grove at Minnetonka

Maple Grove heads to Minnetonka on Friday for a Metro West subdistrict showdown. The Crimson are coming off two seasons in which they reached the Class 6A state semifinals, while the Skippers are hoping to end a three-game skid in this series. 

Minnetonka (2-0, 1-0) appears poised for a bounce-back season. It defeated Eagan 42-7 in the opener before defeating No. 10-6A Wayzata 21-6 last Friday. Dual-threat junior quarterback Aaron Syverson has carried the No. 8-6A Skippers through two games, passing for 285 yards while adding 265 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Maple Grove (2-0, 1-0) opened its season with a 28-7 win over Osseo before edging Prior Lake 9-6 in Week 2. The No. 5-6A Crimson offense has been paced by junior running back Evan Hull (268 rushing yards, 1 TD).
