St. Michael-Albertville controlled last week's game versus Mounds View from start to finish, defeating the Mustangs 45-21 in its Class 6A debut. Senior quarterback Connor Melton passed for 400 yards and five TDs while adding 50 rushing yards and a touchdown. Junior wide receiver Peyton Downey had 180 receiving yards and two touchdown catches.

St. Michael-Albertville (1-0) used a more balanced approach, pounding the ball on the ground with senior Mitchell Kartes (88 yards, two TDs) and junior Desean Phillips (72 yards, three TDs).
