St. Croix Lutheran at SMB
7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 8

After running away with the Twin City Maroon subdistrict last year, St. Croix Lutheran has some added competition in league play. SMB joins the fold and will host the 2016 Class 3A runner-up this week.

Each team was dominant in their opener, with both winning by 28 points. St. Croix Lutheran (1-0) beat Providence Academy 40-28 while SMB defeated Academy Force 41-13.

Quarterback play was key for both teams. SMB (1-0) sophomore Jalen Suggs threw for three touchdowns and rushed for another, while junior Jonathan Liesener threw for 173 yards and three scores for the Crusaders.

SMB is a cooperative program between St. Paul Academy, Minnehaha Academy, Blake, and Hope Academy.
