Mayer Lutheran hoisted its second crown in program history and is a favorite to repeat as Class 1A champion after losing only two players to graduation a season ago.

Hayfield, a program that’s never made it to the state tournament, was selected No. 2 ahead off state runner up, No. 3 Caledonia, the team that beat the Vikings in the Class 1A, Section 1 finals. Fourth-ranked Bethlehem Academy has been a mainstay in the state title game, making 12 appearances since 2000. Tracy-Milroy-Balaton took the fifth spot in the poll after its third place finish in 2016.
