Providence Academy at SMB

Providence Academy and SMB have rolled in Twin City District Gold Division play, and they meet this week to determine which wins the league title. No. 10-3A Providence Academy (6-1, 4-0) looks to unseat reigning champion No. 10-5A SMB (7-0, 4-0).

The No. 10-5A Wolfpack (7-0, 4-0), a co-op of players from St. Paul Academy, Minnehaha Academy and Blake, lead the league in scoring (46 points per game) and defense (5.7 ppg allowed).

However, the Lions defense has been almost as stingy on its five-game winning streak, giving up just one touchdown to four consecutive opponents before allowing Minneapolis Patrick Henry to tally two in a 20-12 victory last week.

SMB relies on a young backfield led by freshman quarterback Jalen Suggs (1,004 passing yards and 11 TDs) and sophomore running back Siegel Howard (626 yards, 16 TDs).
