Albany at Fergus Falls
7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 2

Albany’s 14-7 win over Fergus Falls in last season's opener was a defensive battle that kicked off good campaigns for each, but both may have felt like their years ended too soon after playoff losses.

The Huskies fell 9-0 in the state quarterfinals to eventual Class 3A champion Pierz while the Otters were upset by Willmar 27-24 in the Class 4A, Section 8 semifinals.

Both look to reload their rosters as they prepare for their Week 1 matchup.

Albany may have the more difficult task as it needs to replace top rusher Kyle Birr, who amassed 1,411 yards and 17 touchdowns in his senior season.

Fergus Falls is expected to lean on returning running back Rylie Sheridan after he rushed for 812 yards and seven TDs as a junior.
