First report

Spring Lake Park forced two turnovers and racked up 28 points before halftime in its 10th consecutive victory over Cooper — a streak that goes back to 2004.

Senior running back Isley Carrington had touchdown runs of 6, 22 and 77 yards.Quarterback Zachary Ojile scored the second of his three rushing touchdowns on a 4-yard keeper with just 2.8 seconds left before the end of the first half.

All in all, it was a dominating performance for Spring Lake Park (8-0), which locked up the Suburban Red subdistrict championship and top seed in the Class 5A, Section 5 playoffs.

Cooper (6-2) turned the ball over — on a nice interception by Spring Lake Park’s Aaron Flink — on its second offensive play of the game. By the time the Hawks touched the ball again, they were already down 14-0.

Cooper quarterback Phillip Howard hit Jordan Brown up the seam on a 20-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. The Hawks got within seven points of Spring Lake Park on Alonzo Hollie's 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

But when Ojile capped a 48-yard, 49-second drive with his second TD score at the close of the half, momentum officially stayed with the Panthers the rest of the night.
