Wayzata at Eden Prairie
7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 9

The wins just keep coming in for Eden Prairie, and the only thing stopping the No. 1-6A Eagles from putting together another undefeated regular season and a West Metro South subdistrict title is a Week 8 matchup with No. 8-6A Wayzata.

Since Eden Prairie (7-0, 6-0) escaped with 28-20 win over Maple Grove in Week 4, the team has gained steam and routed every opponent since.

The Trojans (6-1, 5-1) lost to the Crimson 24-6 in Week 5 and have squeaked out wins over Hopkins (33-20) and Edina (21-20).

A key for Wayzata will be attempting to slow the Eagles' JD Spielman, something no team has been able to do this season. The senior all-purpose back has scored on offense, defense and special teams several times this season and enters the matchup with 16 touchdowns.

The Eagles have taken three of the past four matchups with the Trojans. Wayzata's last win was Oct. 17, 2012, which also happens to be Eden Prairie's last loss.
