Hopkins at Maple Grove
7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28

Hopkins, not traditionally recognized as a football school, turned some heads last year by going 3-1 in the Lake Conference. In fact, the lone loss came in a 34-28 defeat to eventual Class 6A state champion Eden Prairie. The Royals are off to a good start this season after defeating Coon Rapids 42-14.

The Royals' next opponent is Maple Grove, which was placed in the West Metro South subdistrict along with the five former Lake teams. The Crimson will be looking to bounce back after recording a tough 22-15 loss to rival Osseo last week.

The last meeting between Hopkins and Maple Grove came in 2013 and ended in a 23-14 Crimson victory.
