Landon Jacobson was everywhere in Grand Meadow’s second consecutive Nine-man Prep Bowl championship victory.

The senior running back ran 34 times for 143 yards and three touchdowns. On defense he had an interception, a fumble recovery and eight tackles. And he returned two punts for 52 yards.

“There’s no better way to go out than to win a state championship,” Jacobson said. “I give all the credit to my lineman for giving me all the holes and the blocks that I needed. This was a team game.”

Grand Meadow scored on each of its first seven drives, opening up a 40-0 lead on Edgerton/Ellsworth through three quarters. The Superlarks had 293 yards of offense at the half compared to Edgerton/Ellsworth’s 50 yards, opening a 33-0 halftime lead.

“Our quick start gave us some momentum and carried us through the game, too,” Jacobson said.

Edgerton/Ellsworth coach Andrew Fleischman said he felt his team “played as hard as we could as long as we could.”

“A lot of the credit should go to Grand Meadow,” Fleischman said. “They’re a phenomenal team, a well-coached team, and when we didn’t play our best Grand Meadow really made us pay. But I’m very proud of the way we competed for 48 minutes and didn’t worry about the scoreboard.”

For Grand Meadow, junior quarterback Michael Stejskal was 9-for-12 passing for 215 yards and three touchdowns. Senior Cody Ojulu caught four passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns and senior offensive lineman/kicker Wyatt Richardson kicked a pair of field goals.

Grand Meadow forced five turnovers — four interceptions and one fumble.

“Turnovers are one of the main things in football,” said Grand Meadow senior Blake Olson, who had an interception and a touchdown reception in the game. “You get a couple turnovers and it’s big.”
