Game at a glance

Recap: Chaska’s Peyton Sanders picked off a ball in the end zone with 25.3 seconds left, helping the Hawks (3-2, 2-1 Metro West) cap an improbable, come-from-behind victory over the previously unbeaten Jaguars. The Hawks scored all three of their touchdowns in the game’s final 18 minutes, 20 seconds — including an 11-yard pass from Justin Arnold to Sean Engel. The extra point put the Hawks up for good with 4:16 remaining.

Key to the game: Trailing 13-0 in the third quarter, Chaska faked a punt on fourth-and-4 from its own 25. Arnold appeared to be stopped short before he pitched the ball to Sanders along the sideline. Sanders ran 75 yards for a touchdown.

Quote: “It just says a lot about our team — the determination we have to keep fighting and pull that out. [It’s] just incredible.” — Arnold on his team’s comeback.

One thing to know: Jefferson (4-1, 2-1) had not trailed in a game all season until Arnold scored on a 58-yard run with 7:48 left in the fourth quarter. And the Jaguars nearly pulled out the win, driving 65 yards to the Chaska 5 before that final interception.

Chaska quarterback Justin Arnold hit Sean Engel on a 9-yard touchdown pass with 4:16 remaining with what wound up being the winning score. Arnold also ran for a 58-yard score, and had a crafty pitch to teammate Peyton Sanders on a fake punt in the third quarter that went 75 yards for Chaska’s other touchdown.

Bloomington Jefferson quarterback Zach Ubben threw two touchdown passes — both to Eric Rasmussen — for the Jaguars (4-1, 3-1). Ubben drove the team 65 yards to the Chaska 5-yard line in the final minutes before the interception ended it.
