Mother Nature forced a 90-minute game delay but the stoppage did not deter Dimitri Williams.

The senior running back scored three touchdowns to lead Rosemount over Eagan 42-14 in a South Suburban Conference matchup on Friday at Eagan High School.

Williams did it all for the Irish (4-0), ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press' Class 6A poll. He ran for two touchdown and caught another.

"He is just awesome," senior quarterback Jackson Erdmann said. "Just throw the ball to him and let him go.

"He can help pad my stats a bit," Erdmann added.

Williams is listed as a running back but finished the night as the Irish’s leading receiver with 94 yards. He caught his first touchdown pass of the season, connecting with Erdmann on a 25-yard pass.

"I think I like receiving more," he said. "I kind of like taking passes from Jackson (Erdmann)."

Williams, who now has six touchdowns this year, finished with 13 rushing and nine receiving touchdowns last year. He also had 154 carries for 764 yards and had 28 receptions for 557 yards, helping the Irish finish as the runner-up in the Class 6A state tournament.

Rosemount head coach Jeff Erdmann called Williams a special player.

"He does a lot for us and is a dynamic player that we are very fortunate to have," Erdmann said.

Lightning forced the game into a delay during the halftime break and officials waited 90 minutes to resume play, a pause Williams didn’t think was necessary.

"I didn't see too much out there," he said. "They should have just let us play. They were kind of wasting our time."

Rosemount did not waste its opportunities on offense as the Irish ended the evening with 426 total yards. Erdmann had 280 passing yards and threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Gavin Rudoll. Senior running back Lowell Green led the Irish with 42 rushing yards.

Rosemount’s performance against Eagan (2-2) is proof the Wildcats are playing like a team eager to return to the state tournament, Williams said.

"We want another shot at state again and are eager to get back there," Williams said. "We have a good team again, and I think we have a chance to do it."
