Mounds View began the season with a pair of lopsided victories, but the Mustangs (3-0) had their first real test against Cretin-Derham Hall (1-2) last week. Mounds View needed a pair of big plays to find the end zone as the Raiders' defense stymied the Mustangs' running game, holding it to 2.6 yards per rushing attempt.

Mound View's defense played well, limiting Cretin-Derham Hall to two touchdowns and making two stands in the final two minutes to hold on for the victory. 

This week's test for the Mustangs' defense is slowing down Roseville's Tommy Arcand, who had 171 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-14 victory at Park of Cottage Grove on Sept 12.

Last year's game between these two teams was a high-scoring affair with the Mustangs squeaking out a 50-47 victory in the regular-season finale.
